The problem
The family wanted Wi-Fi in every part of the house.
That included the basement and the backyard.
The first plan called for four access points, the small units that send out the Wi-Fi signal.
What we did
A walkthrough first, then a smaller install.
- Walked the house on June 10, 2025, and redrew the plan with two access points: one on the first floor outside the basement door, one upstairs.
- Ran two new network cables on June 14.
- Installed two UniFi U7 Pro Max access points, a UniFi Cloud Gateway Ultra (the main router) and a small switch that powers the access points.
- Put ends on, tested and labeled every cable.
- Tuned the first-floor access point to reach the backyard, so no outdoor unit was needed.
- Connected and tested the smart devices: thermostats, Ring cameras, flood sensors and TVs.
The result
Two access points cover the whole house.
Install day was June 16, 2025. One network now reaches both floors, the basement and the backyard.
The family has brought us back for other work since.
