The problem
The new equipment was still in its boxes.
The cable was already run and the new gear was on site.
The office still ran on the old company’s internet line and firewall, the box that keeps outsiders off the network. The change had to happen after hours.
What we did
One night for the swap, three visits to finish.
- Started at 6 pm on May 29, 2024, after the office closed.
- Replaced the firewall, switch and Wi-Fi access points with new Cisco Meraki equipment, and swapped the battery backup.
- Racked and cabled the new hardware and brought the network online, so the IT partner could load its settings remotely.
- Came back on June 3 to connect the new fiber internet line, and on June 12 to reset the meeting room video system.
- On July 8, set up docking stations and removed the old network equipment.
The result
The cutover was finished that night.
The follow-up visits wrapped up the job by July 8.
When the office moved out in 2026, the same IT partner brought us back to take the rack down.
